About the U.S. 1 Corridor CRA
The U.S. 1 Corridor CRA (Community Redevelopment Area) is located from the southwestern intersection of School Street and Fiske Boulevard east to U.S. 1 and north with the western boundary along Fiske Boulevard and the northern boundary at Clearlake Road.
The U.S. 1 CRA was established through City of Cocoa Ordinance No. 12-98 and is governed by a 7-member board, which meets quarterly on the 4th Monday at 6:15 p.m. at Cocoa City Hall at 65 Stone Street.
Redevelopment Agency Board Rules and Procedures
The Agency shall consist of seven (7) members who reside or are engaged in business in the corporate limits of the CRA per Section 163.357 Florida Statutes. The terms of the members shall be four (4) years and are renewed by City Council majority at the end of the term. The CRA members follow the Florida Code of Ethics for Public Officers and Employees (Part III of Chapter 112, Florida Statutes).

U.S. 1 Corridor Projects
U.S. 1 Widening & BeautificationThe U.S. 1 Widening & Beautification project is now complete! In summer 2013, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began road widening of U.S. 1 in Cocoa from Pine Street to Cidco Road. During the road widening, FDOT is installing storm water pipes to improve draining on the road. In addition, Cocoa Utilities Department replaced the aging water mains and waste water pipes.
Clearlake IslesIn 2008, the US 1 Corridor CRA invested $378,000.00 for the purchase of 9+ acres on Clearlake Road for the development of affordable housing. In 2016, the US 1 CRA partnered with the City to develop Clearlake Isles, an 84-unit Low Income Housing Tax Credit Senior Living Facility. The US1 CRA donated the land to the developer, valued at approximately $700,000. The City provided $50,000 in permit fee waivers. This income restricted community offers one and two bedroom rentals with spacious interiors, fully applianced kitchens, storage, elevator access, and features a laundry room, clubhouse and social areas. Construction was completed in July 2017 with a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony held in February 2018. The front portion of the property will be developed with market rate commercial property at a future date.
US 1 Corridor Community Redevelopment Agency Business Recognition Award
The US 1 Corridor Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) established the US 1 CRA Business Recognition Award (US1 CRA/BRA) Program in 2015. The purpose of the Program is to recognize those businesses who have demonstrated above-average efforts in maintaining their property, thereby contributing to the overall appearance of the community at large while adhering to all appropriate codes and permits. Businesses must meet the eligibility criteria of:
The business holds a current City of Cocoa Local Business Tax Receipt;
The business does not have any past due fees and/or taxes owed to the City of Cocoa;
The business is not currently under City of Cocoa Code Enforcement action and/or Nuisance
Abatement action; and
The business owner/operator/employee is not a member of the US 1 CRA
To date, US 1 Corridor CRA Business Recognition Awards have been awarded to Chaparral Mexican Grill, East Coast Lumber/Ace Hardware, Accent Home Décor and Mitchell’s Diner.
