The City of Cocoa offers an Ad Valorem Tax Abatement program for new and expanding businesses within the City. An ad valorem tax abatement is the reduction of or exemption from taxes granted by a government for a specified period, usually to encourage certain activities such as job creation and/or investment in capital.
In June 2015, the City of Cocoa was awarded a $400,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to fund Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments on properties with perceived or real contamination as well as reuse planning.
The 3 Community Redevelopment Agencies in the City of Cocoa sponsor a Commercial Façade Program to benefit property owners in the respective redevelopment areas.
