Brevard Team Sports
January 6, 2017 – Located at 606 S. Cocoa Boulevard, Brevard Team Sports is a 100-percent woman-owned, local and family-owned and operated team sportswear retail/manufacturer. Owner Jayne McClanahan and her daughter Brittany McClanahan have operated the shop since 2009.

“It’s the best of times and worst of times when you have a mother and daughter team,” says Jayne.

The McClanahans describe themselves as “falling into” the team sportswear industry. Their uncle started Brevard Team Sports in 2007 and presented them with the opportunity to purchase the business just a couple of years later.

“We weren’t intending to go into team sportswear, but this business fell into our hands and we’ve done very well,” says Jayne.
Brittany worked at Brevard Team Sports as the embroiderer while under their uncle’s ownership. “I take care of the business end and Brittany takes care of the manufacturing end – the embroidery and screen-print end,” says Jayne. All embroidery and screen-print are completed in-house.

In their retail store, customers will find a colorful assortment of business and sports apparel, uniforms, school uniforms, athletic equipment and promotional items, including the brands Mizuno® and Wilson®.
Customers come from all over Brevard County and Brevard Team Sports’ biggest customers include Brevard Public Schools, Cocoa Little League and City of Cocoa. “The Mayor (of Cocoa) comes in here all of the time,” says Jayne.

Brevard Teams Sports feels strongly about giving back to the community and frequently sponsors local little league teams and waives set-up fees for customers seeking team sportswear for charitable run/walks.

Brevard Team Sports currently has five employees and they are currently planning to relocate to a bigger location in Cocoa. “We’ve had our eyes on a spot and it just came available,” says Jayne.
