In August 2017, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the new 13,600sf Cocoa Pilot Flying J Travel Center, its first Brevard County location just off Interstate 95, along State Road 524.

The new travel center includes a convenience store and an attached Wendy’s, a PJ Fresh Eatery, and a Cinnabon.  The center has eight truck fueling lanes and fourteen car fueling positions.

The Flying J Travel Center, which employs more than 100 people, is far exceeding expectations and is projected to contribute $3.9 million annually in state and local tax revenues.

“The Flying J Travel Center is a great addition to District 3 residents along SR 524.  It also adds the needed facilities for trucks that come through our area.  Truck drivers now have a safe and convenient location to fuel up and rest in the Cocoa area,” said District 3 Councilman Don Boisvert who meets and has coffee with constituents at the Flying J nearly every weekday.

“We’re thrilled to serve the Cocoa community and contribute to the local economy with our new travel center,” Ken Parent, president of Pilot Flying J said in a statement to Florida Today in August 2017. “Both local residents and those traveling through the Brevard County area and along Interstate 95 will soon be able enjoy the convenience and amenities of our new Flying J Travel Center.”

Flying J Travel Centers across the country serve more than 1.3 million customers daily and the one in Cocoa is now one of 29 locations in Florida.

This new business will be a great asset for the Walmart Distribution Center that is currently being constructed along SR 524 as well.  It is also part of a recent flurry of development along the SR 524 and I95 corridor in the Cocoa area.  With the amount of available property and central location, this area is prime for development.
