Guardian Manufacturing

August 1, 2016 – Founded in 1993 as an alcohol interlock design and manufacturing company, Cocoa-based Guardian Manufacturing is now a leader in industrial and commercial control system design and integration. Located within a 60,000 square foot facility in Grissom Ridge Commerce Park, Guardian Manufacturing designs and manufactures technology used across many sectors, from entertainment to textiles.

Currently, Guardian Manufacturing is highly focused on the production of industrial ozone generators that add ozone to water, which can be used to clean produce, poultry and fish, and removing bacteria and viruses. As an environmentally friendly alternative, ozone generators can also be used in the textile industry to bleach fabrics, such as denim.

In an 8-foot high washing machine like prototype fitted with an ozone generator, Guardian Manufacturing is researching and developing the denim process. The fabric is bleached during the cycle, using ozone generators that simultaneously remove dye from the water.

Owner and Founder, Chuck Smith, finds the company’s biggest growth potential in textile industry. “Denim is processed all over the globe and over the next five years Guardian will be exporting a predominant amount of its products to the facilities worldwide that process denim,“ says Smith.

While this expansion will place Guardian Manufacturing products all over the world, Smith plans to keep its local workforce of 40 employees and all core technology located here in Cocoa. “Cocoa is Brevard County’s best kept secret,” says Smith. “The close proximity to Orlando, Cape Canaveral, entertainment areas, and airports is the biggest advantage of being in Cocoa.”
